Amentum Sr. Data Architect in Newport News, Virginia

This position is not currently funded and is contingent upon the award of a new contract to Amentum. At this time, Amentum is seeking candidates to fulfill contingent roles. The expected award timeframe is Summer 2024.

The Senior Data Architect in Newport News, VA will provide technical leadership and governance of the big data team and the implementation of the solution architecture including the following responsibilities:

  • Design and build robust, high-performance, and adaptable solutions optimal for modern platform (Big Data/Relational/No-SQL/OLAP) with the ability to integrate technical functionality

  • Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server 2008, 2010, 2012

  • Responsible for the delivery of a robust scalable data architecture that meets the business goals of the organization

  • Institute, champion and implement analytics data

  • Collaborate with the Application Development team to analyze, identify, design, and implement processes for sourcing data

  • Provide technical thought leadership on High-Level Architecture and Design, data modeling, Big Data strategy & adoption for Ingestion and Analytics Applications within the Finance IT domain

  • Generate DDL script from data modeling tool and ensure the script’s proper function

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of the business intelligence platform

  • Define technical principles, vision, and standards for the data warehouse

  • Ensure the design can scale to handle additional data demands

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of job-related experience, or equivalent

  • Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
