The Role

This position will be responsible for leading a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technology innovation group within the NDT engineering department. NDT technology innovation is required to reduce the time to preform NDT and improve efficiency in support of ship building growth. Initial effort of the group will be to evaluate, develop and deploy computed radiography and phased array UT in the shipyard. Another focus are will be to support additive manufacturing by determining the optimum and most efficient NDT methods.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

• Experience in managing technical projects

• Experience in nondestructive testing (either through Education or Hands-On experience)
