Responsibilities

Silicon Valley Bank's Market Insights team is responsible for producing proprietary research and thought leadership that focuses on the trends and behaviors of sectors, investors, and companies driving the innovation economy. Our industry-leading research and analysis elevate sales teams' client engagements and prospecting efforts, support client decision-making, and amplify SVB's brand. Market Insights produces a wide range of thought leadership, from short articles to in-depth reports covering topics that range from Climate Tech to Fintech, as well as custom analyses for strategic partners.

The Analytics Researcher is responsible for contributing to the development of high-impact reports and insights focused on a wide range of topics across the innovation economy.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Market Insights editorial calendar, including strategic, scheduled reports and tactical, ad hoc insights as needed.
  • Build relationships with subject matter experts across the bank and industry to identify research topics and trends.
  • Gather qualitative and quantitative data from various informational sources. Apply a thoughtful approach to statistical analysis, financial and economic principles, and data visualization to produce valuable, relevant, and actionable insights.
  • Author high quality, data-driven r eports, articles, and presentations to highlight proprietary analysis and commentary.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to execute data analysis, to build effective engagement activities internally, to develop content that is fit for purpose and aligns to business and sales priorities, and to successfully activate insights externally.
  • Collaborate with the Market Insights team, fostering and adhering to best practices, professional development, attainment of individual and team goals, and a commitment to excellence.


Skills

  • Knowledge of statistical methodology
  • Experience with data analysis and problem-solving
  • Strong financial background with preference for CFA, CAIA, or other financial equivalent
  • Presentation development and delivery skills
  • Research and analysis using a variety of methods
  • Strong MS Excel, Capital IQ, Tableau, and PitchBook skills . Power BI and/or CB Insights skills a plus
  • Excellent writing/journalism skills to develop commentary and narrative to support analytical research results.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Experienced at establishing priorities and meeting swift deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated team, project, and program management experience
  • Grounded in data to uncover opportunities, measure impact and drive decision-making


If hired in San Francisco or New York, the base pay for this position is generally between $104,025.00 and $180,310.00 per year. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.First Citizens benefits programs are designed to meet our associates where they are in life. Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years in a research role, ideally in venture capital, banking, investment management, or financial technologies (venture experience is not specifically required) OR High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of experience in a research role, ideally in venture capital, banking, or financial technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, or statistics . Additional background/interest in journalism a plus.
  • Strong research capabilities, track record of successful research reports, including compelling engagement metrics
  • Proven ability to thrive in a changing & growing business environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment that requires independent self-motivation and collaborative teamwork
  • Experience in Banking/Financial Services or Technology companies

Travel
Travel may be occasionally required
