Nexstar Media Group Social Media Producer (FT) in New York, New York

PIX11 News Digital is looking for a full-time passionate, talented, and hard-working Social Media Producer.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for local news and brand marketing, with an emphasis on growing engagement and driving our audience to PIX11.com through creative social media content strategies.

This position is full-time and in-person, with a Monday-Friday schedule.

The position’s chief responsibilities require that the producer:

  • Collaborate with the Digital Executive Producer to maintain a social media content strategy that promotes stories featured on PIX11.com and drives website pageview traffic.

  • Produce and post multiple pieces of high-quality content for social media channels daily, including evergreen videos, graphics, infographic scrolls, and repackaging broadcast reporter videos for a social media audience.

  • Promote PIX11 stories as link posts on Facebook and Twitter, generating website pageviews and growing audience engagement.

  • Quickly pivot to breaking news as needed, ensuring PIX11’s social media audience is kept up to date on the latest developing stories in a creative and highly engaging way.

  • Content discovery: Identify potential viral social media content and keep a pulse on stories that are important to the PIX11 audience.

  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to inform future editorial decisions, grow PIX11’s digital audience, and increase brand visibility

  • Assist PIX11 Creative Services with executing digital brand promotional campaigns on social media.

Requirements and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in digital journalism, social media content strategy, and/or creative marketing.

  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere and Photoshop

  • Curiosity about the latest digital tools and a willingness to experiment with new ways to tell stories and reach a wider audience

  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content tailored to different social media platforms.

  • Creative mindset and ability to think strategically about social media content and campaigns.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passion for the news, digital presentation, and a commitment to fairness and accuracy.

  • Knowledge of the following tools is a plus: WordPress, Facebook/Instagram/TikTok Insights, Adobe Analytics.
