New York University Senior Laboratory Associate (Alberini Lab) in New York, New York

A position for Senior Laboratory Associate is available in the lab of Prof. Cristina Alberini at the Center for Neural Science in New York University.

The Senior Laboratory Associate will manage the day-to-day operations of a research laboratory focused on investigating molecular mechanisms of memory in rodents, particularly mice and rats. These operations will support the work of post-docs, and students. Will have oversight of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting; implement and enforce lab and institutional policies, including safety programs and regulatory compliance (IACUC, recombinant DNA, IBC); oversee the animal facility and organize weekly lab meetings, including management of video conferencing when needed. Also, the Senior Laboratory Associate will coordinate material exchange with collaborators; delegate and enforce individual responsibilities and management of research support staff; order and keep an inventory of general lab supplies weekly; negotiate pricing and contracts with external vendors; assist with budget management; and centralize lab protocols and inventory of essential lab supplies/reagents. He/she will be responsible for managing the laboratory equipment, ordering, functioning, EPA, animal protocols filing and compliance, and training the new personnel. He/she will also participate in research projects that will be focusing on molecular mechanisms of memory in rats and mice and in related disease models.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $55,000- $90,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus three years of related experience

  • Demonstrated experience organizing and implementing disparate workflows to meet organizational schedules and requirements

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with rodent colonies and animal work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or Ph.D. in neuroscience

  • 3 years of experience working in a laboratory environment and with rodents

  • Familiarity with research laboratory data management
