Scholastic Senior Financial Analyst – Contracts in New York, New York

Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

This role is focused on identifying savings opportunities and analyzing strategic decision impacts to Scholastic. This role also provides metrics and reporting support, enabling management improvement and performance measurement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for reviewing all financial documents of vendors the manufacturing team is onboarding and working together to make sure the scales are in line to agreed terms.

  • Assisting the contracts team during negotiation with vendors on all cost related matters.

  • Work together with the manufacturing team to create and maintain a standardized cost scales for Scholastic that applies to all vendors.

  • Work with manufacturing to calculate the cost scales variances for the thousands of vendors after every period in support of standard costing.

  • Work with the demand planning team on budgeting/forecasting purchases by month

  • Assist the demand planning team with forecast related projections.

  • Create quarterly report of inflation impact on cost of product.

  • Work with other manufacturing finance team members on projecting changes to cost of goods

  • Assist the Supply Chain teams by providing tools and analysis best for form of printing (digital vs offset or domestic vs overseas)

  • Working with the manufacturing team to budget/forecast, calculate, track and create reports on rebates periodically.

  • Collaborate with the accounting team on cost actualization and entries that impact cost of goods and inventory.

  • Working with the supply chain team in calculating, tracking and reporting missed savings opportunities, and projecting potential savings.

  • Responsible for analyzing all vendor costs, formats and types of printing and all other financial ad hoc reports to support the supply chain team.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical ability is a must.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (ex, pivot tables, macros, advanced index formulas).

  • Proven experience building reports and dashboards is required. Experience in Microsoft Power BI preferred.

  • Ability to combine information from multiple systems, including cloud data sources into an integrated reporting structure.

  • Experience creating and interpreting regression analysis preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated, resourceful and disciplined with the ability to work remotely while offices are closed.

  • Must be a team player, able to work collaboratively with others.

  • Multi-task oriented, efficient, and accurate under pressure.

  • Strong work ethic and desire to take ownership for delivering projects within required deadlines.

Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Analytics, Business or related subject required. Master's degree is a plus.

Experience: A minimum of five years in a finance or data analytical role is required
