SMBC Relationship Manager - Vice President in New York, New York

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $157,000.00 and $193,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The main function of this position is to build business connection with people in energy and natural resources sectors based in Houston and surrounding area and gather information relating to energy or natural resources projects with which Japanese or other Asian companies are involved. Report to and closely collaborate with Group Head and Relationship Managers in New York to provide information to potential clients so that SMBC is able to be involved with such energy or natural resources projects at an early stage. Potentially may be in charge of some existing clients as Relationship Manager (RM).

This role can be based in Houston or NY

Role Objectives

  • Build business connection with people in energy and natural resources sectors.

  • Gather information relating to energy or natural resources projects with which Japanese or other Asian companies are involved.

  • Gather information on recent trends and activities of energy and natural resources sectors.

  • Support in preparation of client materials (presentations, proposals, etc.) and presentation.

  • (If assigned existing clients as RM) Maintain client relationship, cultivate clients’ banking needs and promote banking products

  • Provide ad hoc reports for management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of working experience of corporate banking, project finance or energy or natural resources sectors.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or Accounting preferred or equivalent education and training.

  • Solid communication skills with an ability to coordinate and communicate with various external and internal stakeholders.

  • Highly proficient MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills are required.

  • Japanese and English language skills (business level) required.
