The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Postdoctoral Research Scientist in New York, New York

This is a full-time on-site postdoctoral research position located in New York, NY starting in April 2024. The postdoctoral researcher will work under the guidance of a principal investigator on Columbia's medical campus. The researcher will work on research projects related to the study and manipulation of protein-carbohydrate interactions for therapeutic applications - including vaccine development and drug delivery. Additionally, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to collaborate with other researchers, assist with lab setup and administration, and contribute to grant writing and publications. Starting salary for this position is $70K and the postdoctoral associate will be eligible for full Columbia employee benefits at time of hire. Qualification

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred applicants should be skilled in molecular biology techniques related to protein engineering, synthetic biology, and metabolic engineering.
  • Willing to assist with training lab members (PhD, MS, undergraduate) and setting up a new research (wet) lab.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and present research work.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirables

  • Knowledge of immunology and/or immunoengineering.
  • Grant writing experience.
