The New School Part-Time Faculty: Open Campus - Art and Design in New York, New York

Responsibilities:

Parsons at Open Campus, the place for continuing education in art and design at The New School, is looking for part-time faculty to teach non-credit courses (on-campus, online and hybrid) in the following areas:

• Infographics and Data Visualization

• Design Leadership for Business

• Business Design for Social Impact

• Digital Marketing

• Human Centered Healthcare

• Designing Online Learning

• The Skilled Professional

• Fashion Business

• Interior Design

• Graphic and Digital Design

• Web Design, Web Development, and UX/UI (launching Fall 2019)

We are interested in professionals who have versatility and experience working across creative disciplines with knowledge and practice of design thinking, emerging technologies, management strategies, scenario building and innovation in teaching methods. Our goal is to provide the adult student with knowledge of current practices aligned with traditional foundations to prepare them for work in creative industries.

Part-time faculty at The New School are unionized and members of ACT - UAW (local 7902). The hourly rate for non-credit courses is $74.02 per contact hour, and increases are subject to the local 7902 contract.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Significant professional experience and/or a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an aligned academic discipline.

• One year of teaching experience.

• Commitment to teaching non-traditional students and to cultural diversity.

• Candidates who are invited to interview will be required to provide 3 letters of reference.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching online and hybrid courses.
