Citigroup NAM BaaS Product Manager in New York, New York

The Marketing Product Senior Manager is a senior management level position responsible for managing a broad range of Product Management employees, setting strategy and providing direction, leadership and budgetary management, etc. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the development of product plans, strategies, and tactics while coordinating product lines through product life-cycles in coordination with the broader Product Management team. The overall objective of this role is to coordinate the promotion of products to develop new markets, increase share of market and obtain competitive position.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Product Management in managing strategic marketing programs, strategic program roadmaps, program development, program/product launches, and program marketing to gain maximum benefit from each program/product and deliver on client value propositions

  • Utilize specialty knowledge to review, analyze, and develop beyond existing solutions, as well as develop and communicate a business plan on approaching the marketplace

  • Develop plans and ensure successful execution of functional strategies for a business or product requiring coordination and integration across teams/business units, as well as construct and ensure successful execution marketing plan that spans product, brand, acquisition, customer, and retention to improve performance, brand preference, and client engagement

  • Execute day-to-day product marketing for core products including program delivery, client experience, and client communications strategy, help the team prioritize, negotiate, and remove obstacles, and provide input into strategic decisions affecting job family/function within a region/business

  • Execute client value propositions, positioning, segmentation, pricing, targeting, channel strategies, and competitive differentiation to achieve preferred status as a partner to Citi clients

  • Collect client and competitor market research, develop a product innovation roadmap, and manage all aspects of program life cycle management including market demands, technology trends, and competitive field

  • Create and deploy marketing strategies, lead conceptualization and implementation of key growth initiatives, and maintain current market intelligence on overall industry verticals and competitors

  • Assist in winning new business relationships in all supported verticals using available tools such as industry publications, direct mail, internet presence, trade shows, call, and strategic alliances

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience

  • Experience leading a team in a global, complex, and matrixed environment

  • Experience with internal/external negotiations

  • Working knowledge of different system, theories, and practices relevant to a function

  • Practical experience of multiple business cycles

  • Advanced knowledge of industry and competitor products/services

  • Working knowledge of strategic direction of the function within the business as well as a solid conceptual/practical grounding in function and/or area of expertise

  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Master’s degree preferred

To help accelerate commercialization of new capabilities, the North America Banking as a Service (BaaS) Product organization seeks a strong Vice President/Product Manager to help drive product strategy, risk management and commercialization for a portfolio of highly visible solutions at the core of the Payments business, including:

  • Citi Virtual Accounts enable clients to segregate their balances under a single physical account, providing enhanced visibility, control and efficiencies through centralized payments, receivables and liquidity management. Virtual accounts can be integrated with other cash management solutions as a strategic enabler of an organization’s intertwined treasury objectives for centralization, visibility, control and flexibility.

  • Citi Payer ID accounts are designed to help clients improve efficiency in their current collections processes and streamline the flow of information. The capability, available in 40+ countries, provides visibility into the source of payments for efficient Account Receivable reconciliation.

Successful candidates will be comfortable evolving into a Subject Matter Expert on for these solutions and associated capabilities, working closely with key stakeholders across the global organization and other Citi lines of business, Sales, functional partners (Compliance, Risk, Controls, AML, Sanctions) and clients to commercialize these newer products, grow revenue and help drive an optimal user experience. The VP will drive product strategy and positioning, sales and client enablement, and product and P&L management, and is heavily involved in the product development process. The successful candidate will also drive progress on key Control and Compliance initiatives to strengthen the risk management of the BaaS product offering.

The BaaS Product Team is charged with developing and commercializing solutions to improve reconciliation capabilities and account structures to support a diverse set of corporate clients, financial institutions (FIs) and non-bank FIs, and public sector organizations.

The BaaS Product Manager must successfully undertake and navigate each of the following responsibilities:

Product Management and Development:

  • Work with NAM Head to set the strategic vision and multi-year product roadmap in tandem with Global Product and functional partners, including continued support and/or build out of the BaaS product suite and other value-added capabilities.

  • Collaborate with Technology and other partners to drive forward-looking infrastructure planning to support growth at scale.

Commercialization:

  • Act as a senior conduit for client / industry trends, market challenges, product development and client needs, both inbound and outbound.

  • Communicate the BaaS strategic roadmap and value proposition clearly through meetings with clients, sales and coverage teams, partners and other industry participants as applicable.

  • Collaborate with sales, Implementation and Service to build out client pipeline and help ensure wins are smoothly implemented.

P&L Management:

  • Build out and manage P&L to deliver Revenue, Expense and Net Income Plan that maximizes profitability and enables growth in Domestic and LMS product

  • Create annual financial plan and manage re-forecasting of targets in partnership with Finance. Conduct or participate in monthly and quarterly financial reviews.

  • Optimize the pricing framework and price points for BaaS product across the NAM Cluster.

Governance / Risk and Controls:

  • Collaborate with all Risk & Control functions, New Product Approval Committee (NPAC), and other individuals as needed to maintain a pristine risk and control environment.

  • Ensure a strong controls environment by optimizing risk/reward trade-off and adhering to all applicable laws and Citi policies in collaboration with Second Line Partners.

Development Value:

• High-profile visibility within the bank and externally on Payment transformation; significant senior-level exposure and cross-product engagement within the NAM and Global Product teams

• Significant engagement with clients across traditional businesses as well as emerging segments, such as payment intermediaries and Gig economy players.
