KPMG's valuation professionals provide clients robust and informed guidance on valuation matters across multiple sectors, deal stages and business needs. We determine fair (market) value of equity shares, assets or complex financial instruments for mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax and other regulatory standards. Our engagements include providing pre and post deal Purchase Price Allocations (PPA), Impairment Testing, employee or management incentive scheme valuations and recurring fund valuations. KPMG is currently seeking a Manager or Senior Manager, Economic & Valuations - Credit Valuations to join our Economic and Valuation Services (https://www.kpmg.com/us/en/services/tax/valuation-services/pages/default.aspx) practice with a focus on climate change and policy analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff in the preparation of valuations of illiquid credit assets including, private company debt, distressed corporate debt, commercial real estate loans, consumer loan portfolios, credit card portfolios, and residential whole loan portfolios, with a focus on the alternative investment space

  • Interact with hedge fund, private credit funds, private equity, venture capital, and limited partner investment and finance officers on the valuation of investments

  • Work with financial models including diverse valuation methods, such as discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, trading comparable, transaction comparable, and allocation models

  • Perform analyses on financial and economic data, subject companies, guideline companies, industries and markets, and other types of funds and investment analysis

  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, Bloomberg, Capital IQ and other application and data providers

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Manager:

  • Participate in business development and origination activities

  • Oversee managers and staff in the preparation of valuations for credit investments with a focus on the alternative investment space

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of recent experience in one or more of the following areas: investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, valuation, financial statement analysis, quantitative analysis, statistical sampling and econometrics, fixed income, and/or capital markets

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

  • Progress toward the coursework and/or testing requirements for an approved complex securities professional designation must be demonstrated. Progress is defined as being registered for an approved complex securities professional designation: Certified in the Valuation of Financial Instruments (CVFI), Charted Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) / Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), or equivalent actuarial designation or Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV); in addition to others on KPMG's approved credential listing; any individual who does not possess at least one of the approved designations/credentials when their employment commences, has one year from their date of hire to obtain at least one of the approved designations/credentials; should you like to see the complete list of currently approved designations/credentials for the hiring practice/service line, your recruiter can provide you with that list

  • Advanced finance, financial modeling, accounting, and analytical abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment and/or independently

  • Strong work ethic, ability to multitask, and attention to detail; outstanding presentation, organizational and problem-solving skills

Additional Qualifications for Senior Manager:

  • Minimum eight years of recent experience in one or more of the following areas: investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, valuation, financial statement analysis, quantitative analysis, statistical sampling and econometrics, fixed income, and/or capital markets

  • Successful completion of at least one an approved complex securities professional designation
