Manager, Clinical Services (RN)

Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager, Clinical Services provides essential clinical leadership for the nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, MAs, PCAs) supporting physician practices at the Main Hospital and the Belaire Building at HSS. This includes direct supervision, hiring, on-boarding, scheduling, and performance management. While the Manager’s primary focus is the safe and efficient operations of the nursing staff, you will also partner with the Regional Director, Medical Director, Director of Clinical Services and other departments to develop and execute initiatives that enhance the patient and provider experience.

The Manager plays a pivotal role in championing a culture of belonging and excellence, which is crucial in upholding operational excellence and embodying the principles of a High Reliability Organization (HRO). Through prioritizing safety, quality, and adaptability, the Manager plays a significant role in fostering an environment where exemplary patient-centered care and a robust sense of interprofessional teamwork take precedence. Additionally, the role supports alignment amongst leadership and frontline staff, ensuring optimal patient flow, safety, and a cohesive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and heard. Through proactive resource management and a steadfast commitment to enhancing patient outcomes, the Manager, Clinical Services actively fosters a supportive healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the Director of Operations in the management of the facility.

  • Functioning as the nursing supervisor during hours of operation.

  • Scheduling nursing/clinical support that meets the needs of our providers.

  • Completing payroll for all nursing staff.

  • Maintaining an adequate inventory of medical supplies and equipment to support operations, including ordering, receiving, and invoicing.

    Managing the nursing staff and ensuring compliant and competent nursing practice.

  • Collaborating with the Director of Clinical Services to establish and promote consistent nursing policies and practice.

  • Collaborating with the Director of Operations on the recruitment and hiring of nursing staff.

  • Facilitating the onboarding, continuing education, and ongoing assessment of nursing staff, including supervision and verification of clinical competencies.

  • Utilizing all aspects of the performance management cycle (defining expectations, setting goals, providing feedback, coaching, mentoring, corrective action) to help staff best fulfill their job responsibilities.

  • Inspiring enthusiasm and commitment to excellence by consistently demonstrating behaviors that reflect the HSS core values and the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.

    Improving processes, performance, and quality.

  • Challenging the status quo by developing and championing new ideas that add value to the organization; continuously assessing and improving clinical operations and systems, with particular focus on enhancing the patient and provider experience.

  • Sharing best practices with the Director of Clinical Services and nursing colleagues.

  • Measuring and leading quality initiatives and promoting a culture of safety.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing required

  • RN license and registration required in NY

  • BLS via AHA

    Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of nursing with clinical leadership or management experience, preferably while working in a hospital or medical office setting required.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and exercise influence in a complex, multi-departmental, and matrixed environment.

  • Demonstrated capacity to multi-task and utilize critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems.

  • Experience with Epic to support operational and clinical activities strongly preferred.

Pay Range - Minimum

USD $140,000.00/Yr.

Pay Range - Maximum

USD $155,000.00/Yr.
