SALARY RANGE : $125,000 ‐ $134,000

HOURS OF WORK : 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

SUMMARY :

Responsible for independent assessment of the operational performance of the warehousing operations, recommending short- and long-term solutions to enhance group performance. Responsibilities include directing cycle counts, and internal reviews as they relate to material management, storeroom operations, inventory accountability and budgetary cost controls across all MTA agencies. The Materials Management and Inventory Accountability Director will lead a team responsible for the day-to-day oversight of field personnel to ensure physical inventory accurately depicts all supply chain data. Roles and responsibilities for material support may be inclusive of all MTA Agencies. Oversees a team that supports this function.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Direct accountability program to include audits, cycle counts to verify the inventory accounting accuracy and compliance to the policies and procedures established as they relate to material planning, storeroom operations and inventory accountability.

  • Manage 3rd Party contractors in the field, implementing MTA procedures and contractual oversight.

  • Direct the department’s Internal Control Program; interface and serve as liaison for department for both internal and external auditors

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce costs

  • Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for materials management and reporting, monitoring progress and taking action to address any issues

  • Ensure excess/obsolete materials are disposed of in accordance with MTA policies and procedures.

  • Provide support for Analytical tools needed in the areas of Inventory Accountability and Excess Obsolete Analysis for Agencies.

  • Assist in the development of processes and controls to assure inventory objectives and budgetary goals are met.

  • Develop reports to monitor accuracy of storeroom group activities.

  • Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling. Provide input regarding the discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review staff performance. Creates a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential. Create an environment that fosters creativity, learning, development, and opportunity for all employees. Provide ongoing support and dedication to developing internal talent pool.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of Warehousing Operations / Business and Supply Chain Systems.

  • Familiarity with visualization tools, such as PowerBI, Tableau, or comparable applications.

  • Strong managerial skills to effectively direct a staff of professional and technical employees in implementing the short- and long-term goals and direction for the area of responsibility.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible.

  • Excellent Microsoft suite skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

    REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Public Policy or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree; and

  • Minimum 6 years related experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial and/or leadership role in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body preferred.

    PREFERRED

  • An advanced degree in a related field.

  • Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures.

  • Experience with the followings systems:

  • PeopleSoft

  • Commodity Management Systems (CMS)

  • Talon / Materials Management System (MMS)

  • Planner Initiated Expediting System (PIES)

  • Logical Inventory Management System (LIMS)

  • Maximo
