Position Summary

Provide strategic planning and vision around student development initiatives related to civic learning and social impact education. Serve as a campus leader in developing and executing learning opportunities related to advocacy, public service, community service, community activism, political discourse, dialogue, and change agency. Implement student development strategies to incorporate civic learning skills, values and goals into career planning and personal wellbeing as part of a larger world readiness framework, especially in collaboration with the Social Impact Career Hub. Supervise, develop, and support professional staff. Work with academic leaders and faculty to support civic education efforts in the curriculum, including but not limited to service learning. Partner with colleagues in the Office of the Dean of Students to support both proactive and responsive approaches to addressing conflict on campus. Oversee data collection, assessment, and reporting for program areas. Contribute to Changemaker Center and Division-wide outcomes design, tracking, and assessment. Manage related budgets within the Changemaker Center. Serve on divisional and University working groups and committees.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.Preferred Education:Master's Degree in higher education, adult education, leadership, political science, public service, social work or a relevant social science.Required Experience:7+ years progressively responsible professional experience working in a university, educational institution, youth development or training and development organization; substantive experience developing and managing programs for college-age students especially in the area of civic engagement; demonstrated knowledge of current research, theory and best practices of civic learning; commitment and action to support global inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity and accessibility; experience managing program budgets and supervising staff.Preferred Experience:Mastery of leadership theory, as well as the application of leadership theory to practical experiences in multiple sectors and environments. Experience creating leadership programs for diverse audiences, including undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals. Experience in scholar development, teaching, and advising students.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to set goals and design and implement strategies for achieving them. Ability to work and communicate with diverse stakeholders. Ability to solve problems and interact with individuals at all levels. Strong teamwork abilities. Ability to manage a budget. Ability to communicate policies and procedures to a diverse group. Must have extensive experience creating strong relationships across a complex organization.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $100,000.00 to USD $120,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
