Job Description

General Scope of Duties

This combined role seeks to provide both operational and case management support to the directors of DEI Programs and the Dean of Title IX and Equity and Compliance Programs for the college. This role endeavors to determine, through operational assessment of the programs in DEI , the nuanced operational support needs of the various programs (and directors) while also providing approximately half-time case management support to the Dean for Title IX and Equity and Compliance Programs.

This role presumes that the selected candidate will spend 18.75-hours per week engaged in operational tasks supporting the technical, logistical, and administrative tasks of the DEI program directors and 18.75 hours providing Title IX and Equity Compliance case management support.

The selected candidate will receive regular support and supervision from the Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in their working role as the operations manager and supervision/support from the Dean for Title IX and Equity and Compliance Programs in her role as the Equity Compliance officer for the college. Dean Monahan is also a lawyer by training and oversees the legal and policy aspects of the college’s equity compliance obligations. Thus, the case manager will receive training and education in ADA -compliance and legal obligations as well as college-specific guidelines.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Case Manager for Equity and Compliance Programs

The Case Manager for Equity and Compliance Programs will report to the Associate Dean for Equity and Compliance Programs/Title IX Coordinator and will serve as a primary resource for members of the College community throughout the investigative process.

The Case Manager for Equity and Compliance Programs for the Division of Institutional Equity and Inclusion will be responsible for monitoring all incoming reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual and gender-based misconduct at Connecticut College and will be a neutral first point of contact for all members of our college community.

The Case Manager for Equity and Compliance Programs will respond to all reports under the College’s Harassment and Nondiscrimination Policy, Including Sexual Harassment and Nondiscrimination Under Title IX (the “Policy). In this regard, the case manager will engage in the following activities:

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for responding to and monitoring all incoming reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual and gender-based misconduct at Connecticut College.

  • Responsible for outreaching to potential complainants (students, employees, faculty, and third parties) under the College’s Harassment and Nondiscrimination Policy, Including Sexual Harassment and Nondiscrimination Under Title IX and providing them with resources, process information, and supportive measures, as needed.

  • Coordinate responses and outreach efforts with the other members of the Equity and Compliance Programs team and college partners.

  • In coordination with the Equity and Compliance Programs Team, develop and coordinate the distribution of educational materials to the College community regarding reporting of discrimination and harassment based upon a protected category and/or sexual and gender-based harassment and misconduct and the prevention of such behavior.

  • Work with individuals affected by sexual and gender-based harassment and misconduct and other forms of discrimination and harassment to provide information, connection to resources, options, and supportive measures.

  • Maintain up-to-date records of all reports of discrimination and harassment based upon a protected category and/or sexual and gender-based harassment and misconduct at the College and the College’s outreach, response, and process for each report using Maxient.

  • Act as a Liaison to the College’s Student Life team, Campus Safety, Human Resource as needed to ensure the proper flow of information between Equity and Compliance Programs, Student Conduct, Human Resources, and Campus Safety.

Operations Administrator Job Summary:

The Office Administrator plays a crucial role in supporting the Division of Equity and Inclusion ( DEI ) operations at Connecticut College. This dynamic position requires a highly organized individual with exceptional administrative skills and a creative mindset. The primary responsibilities include coordinating tasks from multiple offices within the division, managing receipts & invoices, and contributing to the development of streamlined administrative processes within the division.

  • Oversee administrative support to the offices within DEI , including managing Google drive systems for the programs, calendars, scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, drafting agendas as needed, handling general inquiries, and maintaining detailed meeting notes.

  • Bring organizational assessment and project management processes to improve processes and programmatic functioning/service delivery across programs with proposed solutions to enhance office efficiency, refine, and optimize existing workflows.

  • Manage office expenditures, including student employee timesheets and student-related budgets, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, soliciting bids for services as needed, and process & track receipts to ensure compliance with institutional procurement policies.

  • Demonstrated passion for working with diverse populations and commitment to basic equity & inclusion principles

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality with regard to employee and student information

  • Proven experience in administrative roles with a track record of successfully managing multiple concurrent projects and strong overall organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team and amongst the various offices that DEI collaborates with.

  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to streamline processes to improve office efficiency

  • Strong time management, attention to detail, tech-savviness, and adaptability.

  • A track record of budget & expense tracking, receipt management, policy compliance, and experience soliciting bids from vendors.

    Education and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2 years of experience with sexual and relationship violence prevention and education and/or equal opportunity

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with Maxient conduct system

  • Knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to Title VII , Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act ( VAWA ); the Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to civil rights and disabilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
