SW North America, Inc. Project Engineering Manager in New Hudson, Michigan

SW North America, Inc. has an opening for a Project Engineering Manager at 30160 Lyon Industrial Court, New Hudson, MI 48165. 40 hrs/wk. 9am - 5pm.

 

Responsibilities: Responsible for ensuring feasibility of all machining processes and the success of all customer awards for the purchase of turnkey machining processes; approving and overseeing usage of all engineering system, tools, processes, and standards, such as machining processes, workholding and cutting tools; determining machine specifications and options required for quotes and customer awarded programs, including equipment retrofit requirements of existing SW machining equipment; and managing the day-to-day activities of the group, including performance reviews and member training. Specific duties will include: assign personnel to be the lead project engineer responsible to fulfill all technical machining process aspects for a customer RFQ / inquiry; supports the Sales Manager in providing of the quotation / proposal, including time study, fixture concept, tooling recommendation, proposal related information such as work area layout, technical machine data, etc.; supports the Sales Manager in presentation of the proposals to customers; support the Application Engineering Manager with the completion of all feasibility assessments of machining processes for customer awarded programs to assure the successful completion of all customer sows and capability requirements; oversee all workholding specifications and cutting tool specifications, concept to final release to setup, completed by himself/herself or the technical project engineers; oversee all systems, processes, techniques, methods, and simulations used by the Project Engineers To specify machining process, workholding, and cutting tools; works in concert with Program Management to assure timely deliveries; provide highly qualified prismatic machining processes; development of SWNA machining products and turnkey projects; write statements of work for customer awarded projects & manage technical deliverables; writes and releases to purchasing all SORS and specifications for the procurement of workholding and cutting tools; assist purchasing with the strategic selection, support, and development of workholding and cutting tool suppliers (national / international); reduce and simplify operating and setup time required for workpiece loading, tool setting, workholding change out (when required), inline gaging and probing; manage the day-to-day activities of the Project Engineers; all personnel requirements, including performance reviews and training development, for management of the project engineers; and all other duties assigned.

 

Requirements: 10 years of experience as a Project Engineer and/or Application Engineer and/or other engineering positions in manufacturing and automation machine tool industry. Experience must include: CAD-CAM software; multi-spindle CNC machines and automation; tooling requirements and tool layouts; working with 2D blueprints, 3D models and GD&T requirements; machining processes; workholding; and cutting tools.
