The Position

Tax Program Supervisors plan, organize, direct and administer tax and fee collection activities as well as tax compliance programs in an assigned agency; oversee taxpayer assistance and education activities performed by subordinate staff; and oversee revenue and taxpayer accounting functions.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

This position is primarily located in our Carson DMV Office within the Motor Carrier Division. The Tax Program Supervisor II reports directly to the Division's Administrator and is responsible for the planning, development, monitoring, and implementation of projects that affect Motor and Special fuel tax collections at the state, local, and other governmental levels, including County Indexing, as well as other tax functions of the Motor Carrier Division. In addition, the Tax Program Supervisor II provides support to Division Leadership Team. Projects include assisting in the implementation and maintenance of computer programs; verifying and finalizing monthly fuel tax distributions, preparing and gathering statistical material for Performance Measures; review of licensing activity to ensure proper and timely processing of motor and special fuel taxes; developing and updating policies, procedures, and forms; researching and analyzing the impact of federal legislation and regulations; researching, developing, tracking and implementing state legislation and regulations; assisting with the development of fiscal note requests; and researching and preparing reports to recommend appropriate action. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, economics, business, or related field and two years of professional tax or revenue collection, examination or administration experience requiring the interpretation and application of laws and regulations in the review of financial documents for legal compliance, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Tax Program Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Notes

This position has a travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.

Additional Position Criteria
