The Position

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.

The Department of Taxation is modernizing its tax revenue system which presents a unique opportunity to the selected candidate to be part of the system's implementation. Taxation is seeking a system and network administrator to work on the Technical Team located in Carson City Nevada. This position administers a VMware environment with Microsoft Servers, for mission critical applications. Job duties include but are not limited to server patching, maintenance for systems and storage, hardware, software, and firmware. Collaborate on projects and work assignments with other systems personnel. The Technical team delivers infrastructure and mission-critical application services to the Department of Taxation. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. Some positions are subject to call-out or call-back. Some positions require statewide travel. Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
