Copeland Lean Manufacturing Engineer in Natchitoches, Louisiana

If you are a manufacturing professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland/Alliance Compressors has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in Natchitoches, LA, you will work as part of the Lean Manufacturing team to accomplish the manufacturing goals of safety, quality, productivity, and cost. You will monitor key manufacturing objectives and develop and execute projects that align with company’s performance goals.

AS A LEAN MANUFACTURING ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Assists plant Lean Manufacturing Manager in developing Lean strategy for plant-wide implementation.

  • Have thorough knowledge of and experience with Lean Principles and methodologies: Waste Elimination, Value Stream Mapping, 5S+1, Kanban Pull System, Quick Changeover, Structured Problem Solving.

  • Develop and lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives (to improve throughput, Manufacturing Cycle Time (MCT), Machine Changeover, and Inventory Control) and be able to train associates.

  • Plans, charters, executes, and sustains key facility, operations, and warehouse projects (i.e., recycling management, line rate improvement, and storage capacity utilization).

  • Analyzes and designs Standard Work to optimize process efficiencies in production, material flow, and equipment layouts.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

You have Lean thinking and Kaizen mindset. You work collaboratively to reduce or eliminate waste and perform process improvements across the campus of our mass production manufacturing plant (machining, raw material, assembly, finished goods warehouse) through project planning and execution. You are a self-driven, motivated individual who drives results and effectively works on projects to improve efficiencies of process. You can collaborate and communicate with a diverse group of people ranging from hourly to all levels of management. You are a confident individual who can handle situations of a dynamic environment on a day-to-day basis.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial / manufacturing engineering or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience within a mass volume production environment (relevant co-op/intern experience may be considered) or a combination of relevant certifications and 4 years of experience in mass volume environment.

  • Lean Manufacturing experience.

  • Six Sigma Green belt.

  • Project management experience.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D for managing plant layouts.

  • Proficient in software packages including Visio and Microsoft Office.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication (listening, meeting facilitation, project report-outs, etc.).

  • Legal work authorization in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Experience in setting up new processes or production lines.

  • Six Sigma Black belt

About Our Location

Alliance Compressors LLC develops, manufactures, and markets one through six-ton scroll compressors. Scroll compressors are used in commercial and residential air conditioning units. The current facility is over 365,000 square feet of manufacturing space and over 35,000 square feet of office space. This climate-controlled facility is the third-largest manufacturing business in the area, and offers its 600+ employees many opportunities for advancement.
