Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is Amazon's "Last Mile" delivery service, responsible for delivering packages (and smiles) to households/businesses across the planet. Our finance team closely partners to support this rapidly expanding business while building a portfolio of delivery stations, vans, and technology to deliver customers' packages on time - often next day, sometimes faster. We augment our traditional "deliver by van" with other models including Amazon Flex (gig economy drivers), Amazon Lockers, and more - all designed to deliver smiles to our customers. AMZL Finance seeks a Finance Manager to join the AMZL Launch & Innovation team, partnering directly with our business partners that are driving Industrial Automation initiatives. This role offers the ability to lead and manage the investment in one of AMZL’s most strategic and innovative initiatives - equipping our delivery stations with new technologies and equipment that automate the most labor intensive components of our last mile operations.

Success in this role will require you to partner with and influence business and product owners and support thoughtful decision making as we rapidly evolve, invest and execute our delivery station expansion plan. You will own the long term financial model to support this initiative, articulating how our investments in new delivery capacity map to our growth in delivery volume. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to lead, challenge, and innovate to help build scalable and robust solutions through data-driven decision making.

Key job responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering & Operations Leadership to business plan, evaluate and manage capital deployment associated with our multi billion $ automation investment plan

• Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.

• Uses financial systems and advanced MSExcel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.

• Creates effective business partnerships, manages competing priorities, and provides guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events

• Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.

• Collects and analyzes quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions.

• Participates in hiring, developing, and mentoring peers and team members. Seeks and leverages diverse perspectives in all activities.

• Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.

• Contributes to work life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.

• This role manages a team of analysts to drive the above across US and Canada AMZL network

Basic Qualifications

• BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)

• 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

• 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

• MBA, or CPA

• Knowledge of SQL/ETL

• Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

• Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
