JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of a radiologist and the CT supervisor, performs CT procedures in accordance with department protocol at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Able to perform a variety of technical procedures including but not limited to, interventional cases, CT Angiography, and advanced workstation. These procedures require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply ionizing radiation, using the ALARA principle for CT diagnosis. Responsible for administering IV, oral and rectal contrast. Must contribute to the 365/24/7 coverage of the department beyond normally scheduled hours. Responsible to maintain equipment and proper supplies, must maintain a clean and organized work area.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Functions:

• Performs CT exams on patients.

• Implements clinical protocols and policies.

• Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors and families, as well as staff and physicians.

• Instructs patient for preparation for test.

• Reviews requisition for pertinent information special requests and correct procedure as ordered and reviews physician order for procedure/test.

• Assists front reception with patient information as needed.

• Performs completion of documentation on patients and completes all required processes to assure no late charges.

• Records data for Critical Test/results when calling reports to referring MD office. Documents read back verification.

• Maintains medical supplies in room and required stock items and prepares and cleans room.

• Maintains and prepares all equipment/instruments in exam room.

  Education:

  · Associates Degree Required

  · Completion of approved course of study for Radiologic Technology

  · Current ARRT certification

  · CPR certification.

  · Advanced CT registry must be completed within 2 years of hire into CT Department

  · Requires BLS certification and ability to perform BLS support

  Experience:

  · 3-5 years' experience of CT experience required

  Other Requirements:

  · Satisfactory references from previous employer or school of X-Ray

  · ability to work well with others in a group

  · interact with patients, peers, physicians, and external customers of the organization

  · Must be able to prioritize activities based upon organizational philosophy, customer service considerations, and medical judgment

  · Requires ability to work under high stress situations with medical emergencies and procedures that could be life threatening to patients
