Trinity Health Occupational Therapist ( Relief/PRN ) - Acute Rehab Unit in Muskegon, Michigan

Highlights:

  • Become part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes rehab nurses, RN case managers, social workers, nursing assistants, and rehab providers, in addition to the therapy department!

  • Opportunities to treat a wide variety of diagnoses including: Neuro, TBI, ortho and trauma, and many more!

  • Acute Rehab Unit is based in the newly renovated Trinity Health Muskegon hospital that includes 24 private patient rooms, a state of the art therapy gym, and completely functional simulated home space!

What the Occupational Therapist will do:

  • Independently evaluate the functional abilities/disabilities of the client including the ability to perform activities of daily living, mobility, range of motion, strength, coordination, or other functional limitations. This individual will establish a functional baseline and plan of care to be used to demonstrate progress through therapeutic intervention.

  • Colleagues will provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.

  • Accountable for the application of a written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals.

  • Re-evaluates patient's status and effects of treatment when warranted. Reviews goals with patient and family as appropriate during plan of care

  • Colleagues will help to train patients and their family in the use of medical equipment and make recommendations for appropriate equipment as necessary.

  • Evaluates equipment and instructs patient, patient's family, and health care workers on its use as appropriate.

  • Evaluates patient for need of continuation of skilled therapy or discharge from skilled therapy.

  • Participates in planning for patient discharge by considering and communicating with patient, family, and community.

What the Occupational Therapist will need:

  • Must be a graduate of a Master's or previously equivalent educational program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Occupational Therapy.

  • State of Michigan Occupational Therapist License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire.
