Boeing Research and Technology is seeking a Manufacturing and Automation Engineer for the Advanced Production Systems organization. This team leads the research and development of advanced production/assembly systems and processes to improve safety, quality, performance, and/or reduce costs.

In addition, we provide production and sustainment support to enterprise-wide customers from multiple functions. This position supports various projects working with suppliers and research partners in Europe.

Boeing Germany is seeking an Experienced Manufacturing and Automation Engineer based in Munich, Germany.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with different airplane programs to develop requirements and test concepts in a lab environment.

  • Develop processes and automated in-process monitoring systems.

  • Coordinate research activities with subcontractors and partners.

  • Work on industrial integration of research results.

  • Develop requirements for production systems.

  • Collaborate with outside vendors for the design and integration of production systems i.e., robotic cells.

  • Travel to vendor sites to support and collaborate on testing.

  • Document and publish results to drive standards across enterprise.

  • Write project proposals (German and English).

  • Write reports and present results (German and English).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in production engineering (Material and Process engineer).

  • 3+ years of relevant working experience.

  • Bachelor or higher degree or equivalent in a related field of study is required, i.e.:

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Automation Engineering

  • Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience with Assembly Processes.

  • Experience with In-Process Monitoring.

  • Research and project lead experience

  • English language level – intermediate or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace background.

  • Experience with machining, riveting, and drilling processes.

  • Experience with drilling process and fastener systems.

  • Experience with machine learning in practice.

  • Experience with mechatronics and control systems.

  • Experience with optical inspection systems.

  • Good programming skills (Python, C++).

  • German language level – intermediate or higher.

This position is in Munich, Germany and does not offer relocation assistance. Applicants must reside in area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
