The main goal of a Microsoft Technology Specialist (TS) is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and use Microsoft technology and cloud services. The TS is expected to both own and win customers’ technical decisions, as well as find new opportunities through their contacts and engagements for Sales Specialists to pursue. As a TS, you work within a virtual team of technical, partner and consulting resources to help educate your customers at a technical level, demonstrate, and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision. Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based technologies.

Responsibilities

  • You engage with and reach out to customers proactively and independently. You use your knowledge to build credibility with customers.

  • You lead and ensure technical wins for core and adjacent technologies. You leverage your foundational knowledge of resources and proactively engage product teams to remediate blockers by conveying their impact.

  • You engage in partner sell-with scenarios and support partner technical capacity. You capture core competitive knowledge and deliver it back to product and engineering teams.

  • You provide strategic, technical, and partner input based on Microsoft capability at the account level. You work with account teams to shape strategic win plans and tailor Microsoft messaging to the audience.

  • You demonstrate and oversee demonstrations of products, services, and integration through initial engagements. You present and apply architecture patterns and drive cross-workload support. You apply sales methodologies and coach the team in addressing customer digital transformation and leveraging insights.

  • You grow your domain knowledge and expertise by communicating with customers, partners, and senior colleagues to expand knowledge of architecture. You demonstrate new and updated products to increase the internal virtual teams' understanding of solutions and new opportunities. You monitor and respond to the internal tech community and act as a mentor for your technology area.

  • Advising Client Technical Decisions

  • The ability to identify competitors and evaluate their respective strengths and weaknesses in terms of products, services, marketing, and other areas. This includes an ability to gather intelligence and interpret it for the purposes of business decisions.

  • The ability to understand customer needs through dialogue before recommending products/services.

  • The ability to adapt communications around different technologies, products, and services to the audience's level of understanding.

  • Knowledge of trends, direction, new products and changes in the technology as it applies to a particular area of focus, as well as specific knowledge about hardware, software and services.

  • Building Stakeholder Relationships

  • The ability to make a verbal message understood and to receive/understand messages during in-person or remote (e.g., telephone) interactions.

  • The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, staff, managers, customers, and vendors. This includes expressing empathy and compassion when dealing with the needs and problems of others, being approachable, taking time to address the concerns of coworkers, and treating others with respect and dignity.

  • The ability to prepare clear, accurate, and understandable written text, and follow the basic rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation. This may include the ability to create and receive/understand memos, emails, proposals, reports, and professional or general correspondence. This may also include the ability to comprehend, communicate and deliver technical information to audience in a manner that is adapted to their needs, level of understanding, and background.

  • Demonstrating Microsoft Solution Capabilities

  • The ability to sell Microsoft and communicate value within and outside the company by sharing stories and historical anecdotes.

  • The ability to deliver formal presentations to others. This includes sharing information on a range of topics in a clear, concise, engaging and convincing manner; commanding the audience’s attention; using effective presentation materials (e.g., handouts, visual aids); and handling questions or argumentative positions from the audience.

  • The ability to compare and contrast application innovation strategies and solutions across the market.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience

  • OR 6+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technical pre-sales, technical consulting,

  • OR related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.

  • Certification in relevant technologies or disciplines (e.g., Office 365, Power BI, Azure Architect and Development exams, Cloud Platform Technologies, Information Security, Architecture).
