LinkedIn Staff Software Engineer, Storage in Mountain View, California

Our team is responsible for architecting, designing, building and maintaining storage software systems for our data centers, consisting of an exabyte scale multi-tenanted disaggregated chunk storage abstraction layer and a remote block storage system.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a key technical leader and role model within the team. We are looking for someone who designs and develops technology to serve business and technology objectives, understands state-of-the-art storage research, aligns points of view across teams, and makes smart trade-offs. In addition to leadership skills, a successful Staff Software Engineer must exhibit strong technical skills in software engineering and storage.

This role will be based in Sunnyvale.

Responsibilities

• Deliver impact by building features and influencing the roadmap of our storage systems.

• Participate in the full lifecycle of software development: design, develop, test, operate, and improve.

• Track state-of-the-art research in modern storage technologies and actively identify new problems to be solved.

• Work closely with the SRE and application teams to agree on the future direction of the system.

• Bring structure to ambiguous business problems and translate them into an actionable plan.

• Improve the level of craftsmanship by developing best practices and mentoring other engineers

Basic Qualifications

• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience

• 4+ years of professional software development experience

• 3+ years of coding experience in Go/Rust/C/C++

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline

• Prior experience in building and operating large scale storage systems

Linkedln is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

The pay range for this role is $144,000 to $235,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
