Job summary:

As a Senior Engineering Project Team Lead in the Core Components team, you will have leadership responsibility for Cylinder Pack components (Piston, Rings, and Liners / PRL) within Large Power Systems Division. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of diesel, natural gas, and alternative fuel reciprocating engines serving a variety of customers across the world. You will partner with a global team of engineers, suppliers, and production facilities to develop products throughout their lifecycle through the phases of concepting, design, validation, production, and post-production support.

What you will do:

  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), New Source Introduction (NSI) and cost reduction programs

  • Mentor team members on NPI, CPI, NSI, APQP, PPAP, and PCN processes

  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external customers, suppliers, team members, manufacturing facilities, and other business unit

  • Product maintenance and support

  • Represent Core Components Engineering Organization to internal partners in platform, purchasing, operations, etc.

Skills you must have:

  • Products and Services: Extensive knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Technical Excellence: Extensive knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

  • Influencing Through Expertise: Extensive knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization

  • Project Management: Expert knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

  • Team Management: Expert knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.

  • Requirements Analysis: Extensive knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

  • Product Design and Development: Expert knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, and/or Material Science curriculum

Top candidates will also have:

  • Experience working on engine platform or component engineering projects

  • Demonstrated examples of stakeholder and interpersonal communication excellence ​

  • New source introduction and cost reduction experience

  • APQP, PPAP, PCN, and design releasing experience

  • Validation definition experience using FMEA and DVP&R methods
