Atlantic Health System Nursing Educator (RN) in Morristown, New Jersey

Responsible for assisting with the professional role development of members of the Nursing Department, and other Home Care and Hospice Departments, as well as the implementation of programs to improve the quality of care delivered.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Ensures all on-the-job training is consistent with guidelines established

  2. Ensures that site trainers/preceptors have the knowledge, tools, and attitude to effectively train staff

  3. Acts as both a formal and informal consultant, assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing/home care and hospice practice and serves as a resource by assisting nurses/new hires in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options

  4. Works with the Operations team in identifying changes that should be made in the nursing/home care and hospice practices and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaption to change. Strives for excellence in patient care by self-monitoring and, as necessary, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient. Identifies existing and potential problems and takes effective actions.

  5. Develops and maintains an awareness of needed improvements in patient care, procedures, equipment and supplies and makes recommendations.

  6. Other relevant duties as assigned.

Required:

  1. Graduate of accredited Nursing program

  2. BLS Required Specialty Certification Required

  3. Minimum of 3 years of certified home care experience

  4. Valid New Jersey Nursing License

Preferred:

  1. BSN preferred

  2. Experience in new hire development, preceptorship, or staff development

  3. Master's degree Preferred

  4. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written

  5. Patient, compassionate nature

  6. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians, nurses, and all care team members

  7. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
