MECHANIC Public Works:
Position performs as a skilled mechanic in the Citys garage. Position conducts preventive maintenance and a full range of engine, electrical, brakes (air and hydraulic), clutch, transmissions, turbos, hydraulics, welding and metal fabrication, etc. Preforms repairs on a wide range of equipment from small engine repair to heavy equipment and large trucks including emergency vehicles such as fire trucks. This person should have experience and be able to diagnose and repair common diesel issues, including emission related components such as DPF, DEF and EGR and have knowledge of all garage equipment/tools such as scan tools, brake lathe, floor lifts, air gun, battery charger, wrenches, crane, air compressor, welding units, and other hand tools. Must be able to routinely perform heavy work, exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, 50 lbs of force frequently, and 20 lbs of force constantly. Valid CDL drivers license is preferred. Applicant must be a high school graduate supplemented with course work in mechanical and /or automotive electrical trade skills, and considerable experience in repairing automotive and power-driven equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
