About the State Park Inns:

The Indiana State Park Inns are one of the oldest state parks lodging systems in the country. We proudly operate seven unique and beautiful facilities throughout our great state of Indiana that offer a unique experience for guests to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature and make memories naturally!

Spring Mill Inn:

Spring Mill Inn is nestled within the beautiful Spring Mill State Park, in Mitchell, Indiana. The Inn features comfortable 73 guest rooms, the Millstone Dining Room, indoor/outdoor pool, and banquet/conference space.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

Role Overview:

The General Manager is responsible for supporting all aspects of the hotel operations including guest services/night audit, housekeeping/laundry, food and beverage, maintenance, and vendor/supplies to ensure superior guest satisfaction while maximizing hotel profitability.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Be responsible for all aspects of hotel operations, day-to-day staff management and guests

  • Ensure compliance to SOP’s, policies, procedures, and service standards

  • Handle of guest complaints and overseeing service recovery process

  • Manage budget and ensure revenue and guest satisfaction goals are met

  • Ensure all decisions are in the best interest of the hotel and ownership company

  • Develop short, and long-term strategic goals for performance improvement

  • Need to understand the P&L statements and can react with impactful strategies

  • Meet all report deadlines daily, weekly, and monthly

  • Work closely with Upper Management to maximize room yield and hotel revenue

  • Oversee and manage all departments and work closely with department heads daily

  • Be responsible for occupational health, fire, and life safety

  • Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, leading by example

  • Advocate sound financial/business decisions, achieve goals, and maximize revenue.

  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members

  • Serve as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors

  • Strive to improve service performance

  • Communicate clear and consistent messages regarding processes throughout all departments

  • Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize standards, and meet the expectations of customers daily

  • Identifies the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge and skills

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a General Manager in the hotel industry.

  • Good managerial, administrative, and organizational abilities.

  • Must have computer skills including the ability to access and accurately input information into a computer system across different platforms.

  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor

  • This role requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods through shift.

  • Requires the ability to read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (i.e. small print, computer).

  • Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than 25 pounds without assistance.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
