Assistant Child Development Center Director, GS 1701-11

Salary Range: $ 72,553 - $ 94,317 Annual

The Primary purpose of this position is: To Serve as a first level supervisor and assist the Child Development Center Director in the supervision of the day to day operation of a Child Development Center. Assists with the supervision of the Child Development Center to provide specialized developmental childcare and instruction for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The position develops, implements and administers child development programs; provides an overall safe and healthy environment to stimulate and sustain the interests of children; assists with administration; and organizes the educational and developmental programs managerial authorities.

Duties: - Assists the Child Development Center in the daily operations of the Child Development Center. - Assists in the administration and evaluation of ongoing programs of individual and group developmental and educational activities for staff implementation and execution. - Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. - Provides assistance in the management of funds and resources to include developing the annual NAF and APF budgets, which includes submission and prioritization of program component requirements.

RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA): 1. Professional knowledge of child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, intellectual, social and special education needs and center management. 2. Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations governing child care to include regulatory requirements, policies and practices. 3. Knowledge of financial, budget, resource management practices and principles, and analytical and evaluative methods and techniques. 4. Knowledge of the USDA food program requirements. 5. Skill in educating, counseling and advising child care providers and parents; assessing training and childrens developmental needs. 6. Skill in conducting regular and periodic audits, studies, and inspections, evaluating the results, determining the feasibility of necessary improvements and coordinating corrective action.

Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: 1. This position has been identified as having regular contact with children. In accordance with (IAW) Public Law 101-647 Section 231 and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094. A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position. 2. IAW AFI 34-248 and DoD certification requirements, a pre-employment physical examination with a renewal at least every 3 years and specialized immunizations are required. 3. Incumbent must be able to obtain Food Handlers, First Aid, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications and complete additional training requirements. 4. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain an appropriate, valid drivers license. An annual driving record check is required. 5. If the position requires to operate a motor vehicle, the incumbent is subject to random drug testing for drug use IAW AFI 90-508, Attachment 2, Category I, Type 2: Motor Vehicle Operators. 6. At a minimum, meet qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management for the 1701 occupational series. 7. Incumbent may occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours to include weekend , holidays and evenings. Incumbent may be required to work a split shift to meet supervisory or program requirements. 8. Work involves physical exertion such as standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. (small children or center supplies), and some involvement in all aspects of the center and playground area arrangement and maintenance. 9. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must past initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission
