Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency Portfolio Management Manager (Clinical Redesign) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

SUMMARY

The Manager of Portfolio Management is accountable for the development and management of the Clinical Redesign Initiatives/projects and other ELT projects by leveraging and establishing project management standards at Hennepin Healthcare. The scope of responsibility is to oversee project intake and oversight, project delivery frameworks and methodology, project management, project management staffing internally or through partnership, process refinement, reporting, and compliance for the enterprise project portfolio.

This leader is a forward-looking who thinks strategically about the enterprise project portfolio and has a bias for action willing to create and hold leaders accountable, recommending future direction and, in partnership with operations, leads the development of roadmaps, facilities driving key initiatives/projects to execution/completion, incorporating the current healthcare, trends, and impacts to Hennepin Healthcare. By fulfilling this scope, the alignment of all HCMC initiatives will be obtained, which will further the organization’s success for alignment of strategic and executive level initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define, communicate, and execute on system level and ELT projects management processes and capacity planning to deliver exceptional value to the organization
  • Coordinates the efforts of executive leadership toward the establishment of the enterprise project portfolio, from prioritization and project approval through completion, supporting and advising on actions required to balance the portfolio for value realization. Includes site of care, clinical program strategy and digital front door (examples)
  • Ensures key project milestones are accomplished and completed—if not, are able to quickly and effectively develop an action plan to help the team achieve their stated milestones
  • Acts as the primary resource for executive leadership for communications and for reporting the state and performance of the enterprise project portfolio and capacity planning
  • Provides expertise in project management to ensure the successful and optimized management of projects and business solutions at ELT a, as well as providing project management consultative services to the organization as it relates to strategic initiatives
  • Designs practices and procedures for consistent tracking of projects, resource capacity, and major work
  • Proactively leads in the seamless integration of all facets of the Clinical Redesign work to help with implementation and/or action planning
  • Leads large-scale, complex project teams to develop overall plans (business or operational) based on key immediate, near-term, and long-term recommendations
  • Identifies key capability strengths to inform strategic initiative planning as well as analyzing relationships between capabilities across the enterprise and with other key stakeholders to identify opportunities that can be leveraged to execute strategy
  • Provides expert guidance and thought leadership to establish policies, procedures, delivery frameworks, and methodologies for effective project oversight and management in order to meet expectations for project execution, documentation, and ongoing operations
  • Works with ELT and senior leadership and recommends a strategic direction and roadmap to ensure our ability to flawlessly deliver services and enabling exceptional patient care without exception
  • Monitors trends, developments, and best practices in project and portfolio management in anticipation of changing requirements, expectations, and opportunities; assesses technical, financial and organizational implementation for Hennepin Healthcare
  • Implements and advises ELT and leadership team on implementing governance industry best practices through continuous improvement strategies
  • Supports the definition and direction for requests and projects, prioritizing and planning with clinical, business, and information system leaders and teams for appropriation of resources and fiscal responsibility
  • Attracts, develops, and leads high performing project managers to ensure high-value projects that are delivered on time and within budget
  • Manages Departmental/Initiative Performance (budget, forecasting, efficiencies, productivity, and outcomes)

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education / Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, management information systems, (MIS), finance, analytics, or a related field of study
  • Master’s degree preferably in Business or Health Care Administration
  • Seven (7) or more years of comprehensive professional level experience
  • Experience in a leadership role, preferably with direct reports or leading teams
  • Five (5) or more years of demonstrated success in project management, operations planning, and/or process improvement
  • Experience in Project and Portfolio management

OR

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous health care provider and operations experience
  • Lean/Kaizen experience
  • Previous Portfolio or Program Management experience
  • Prosci or similar change management strategy

License/ Certifications

  • Certified Project Management Professional, or obtain within 1 year
