WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER Working at the intersection of climate and conservation, the Program Manager manages a cross-cutting portfolio designed to tackle the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss. They lead the strategic planning, program development, and implementation of TNC's climate change strategy in Illinois, focused on clean energy, clean transport, and nature-based solutions. They seek opportunities to increase the adoption of pollinator-friendly solar in Illinois through pilot projects, policy, and partnerships. They develop strategic partnerships with relevant agencies, non-profits, research institutions, and/or other partners to advance TNC's climate priorities in Illinois. The Program Manager serves as an internal climate expert, advising on the integration of climate change considerations, and messaging within TNC's strategies, projects, communications, and fundraising. They collaborate closely with climate and government relations colleagues to provide research and policy analysis in support of legislative, policy and programmatic priorities. They will work in tandem with the development team to bring support to this work and to the overall mission of TNC. The Program Manager will also expand TNC's work on climate adaptation, assessing and developing strategies for TNC to build resilience for people through nature-based solutions. They develop strategic partnerships with relevant agencies, non-profits, research institutions, and/or other partners to advance TNC's climate priorities in Illinois. Financial responsibility includes managing a budget to complete projects, contracting with vendors, assisting with budget development, and meeting fundraising targets. As a member of the Midwest Division Climate Change Strategy Team, they also play a critical role in advancing the Conservancy's Midwest Division's shared climate mitigation goals with a focus on building support for a sustainable and equitable clean energy transition. As part of this transition, the Program Manager builds support for smart renewable energy siting, planning, and procurement that maximizes outcomes for climate, conservation, and communities using TNC's suite of smart planning tools and programs (e.g., Site Renewables Right, Power of Place, Mining the Sun). As opportunities arise, the Program Manager will participate in and lead special projects to advance TNC's climate and conservation goals in Illinois, and across the Midwest Division. If you are a passionate, motivated problem-solver, come join TNC and apply today! WHAT YOU'LL BRING Bachelor's degree and 4 years related experience or equivalent combination. Fluency in English. Supervisory experience. Experience presenting to and/or communicating with business, government, or legislative staff and/or program leadership. Experience in designing, implementing, and directing multiple complex projects and ensuring program accountability. Communications experience including preparing and presenting project proposals and developing written communications. Experience working with corporate or NGO partners, and government agencies. SALARY INFORMATION The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $80,000 - 95,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
