FTE: 1.000000 Shift: Shift 1 Job Summary:Provides accurate and professional language translation and interpreting services. Translator provides written translation of a wide variety of documents. Interpreter facilitates culturally and linguistically competent communication between individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and medical providers in a manner that promotes patient safety and confidentiality. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimum of one year of experience in providing medical interpreting in English and Spanish is required. One (1) year medical translation experience required. Three years of directly related experience preferred. Experience at a Level I Trauma Center preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Bachelor Degree in translation, foreign language or related field. Professional Medical Interpreter Program preferred. Master\'s degree in Translation preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Solid knowledge of medical terminology and competence in communicating the meaning of terms. Ability to produce written translation of material, such as: various forms, documents, patient letters and other material. Strong ability to interpret diagnostic processes, treatments, procedures, preventive care, and be culturally competent Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, their families and health care providers. Ability to perform under stressful situations and medical emergencies. SPECIAL SKILLS PREFERRED: Formal interpreter training. 40 hour medical interpretation training program. CCHI or NBCMI CertificationLICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Valid Wisconsin Drivers Licenses required.
