Days vary Sun-Sat with every other weekend. 3-11:30PM.

Contributes to the Hospital’s mission by welcoming and registering patients in an efficient and empathetic manner. This administrative/customer service staff position may be the first face of the organization when a patient visits and can have a dramatic impact on making individuals feel welcomed and ease their anxiety by starting their hospital visit professionally. In addition this position impacts patient safety and clinical care by ensuring the patient identifiers are correct and on reimbursement by collecting accurate insurance information and co-pays.

Job Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Obtains identification, appropriate signatures and/or copies of insurance cards.

Responsible for entering into computer accurate patient demographic information.

Verifies insurance eligibility and address verification when necessary with online verification systems.

Answer phones

Notifies Admitting or Nursing Supervisor with appropriate information for bed placement of Admissions.

Reconcile charts

Collects copayment and reconfirms insurance and demographic information in the Emergency Room upon discharge.

Prepares accurate daily statistical and other reports as deemed necessary.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Prior hospital or physician office work experience in directly communicating and providing service to patients

Knowledge of, and experience working with, Third Party Insurance and Authorizations.

Excellent interpersonal and computer skills required.

Meditech experience preferred.
