Brown-Forman Senior Payroll Analyst in Milano, Italy

Meaningful Work From Day One

The position will be responsible for the on-going administration of an outsourced payroll process in Europe, primarily for (but not limited to) Italy. Over time, the role will also become familiar with the payroll processes and vendor relationships, and could expand over other Europe payrolls in order to assist local staff and outsourced vendors with accurate and timely payroll execution.

The Senior Payroll Analyst role will partner with local payroll point persons, local payroll vendors, local banks, third-party vendors (taxes, benefits, etc), HR, Benefits, Compensation, IT, time/leave administrators, HR Master Data Management, and accounting to ensure the end-to-end payroll process is completed compliantly, accurately, and timely. At times, the payroll analyst may be called upon to back-up payroll processing in various countries. This position will also be involved in projects across various countries.

What You Can Expect

  • Working with vendors, executing the monthly payroll for Italy.

  • Implementing a new Italy payroll entity and working in end to end testing for go live execution.

  • Building relationships with local payroll point persons in each European country, as well as with their payroll providers. Becoming highly acquainted with their payroll processes and calendars, and keeping such information current in the payroll knowledge base.

  • Being prepared to back-up processing in various countries as needed.

  • Liaise with all stakeholders that influence payroll results to ensure monthly and annual processes, such as Benefits Annual Enrollment, Benefits vendor transition, Global Payroll Project, and Expense Processing vendor transition, run accurately and efficiently.

  • Perform root cause analysis and develop short and long-term means to address troublesome or inefficient processing issues.

  • Become proficient with Workday Worksheets as well as the business processes in the Workday system that affect payroll (leave/time off, pay codes (deductions/earnings) and integrations. Work with various countries to optimize the use of Workday for payroll activities.

  • Partner with all stakeholders in the payroll process to ensure systems and processes are utilized to the maximum efficiency. Utilize technology to ensure continuous process improvement through more efficient and streamlined procedures.

  • Monitor T&E/Concur system integrations with Workday. Analyze and troubleshoot integration issues, and reconcile transactions loaded in Workday against the Concur system.

  • Ensure expat data is delivered to the external tax service provider each month. Research questions as they arise and perform reconciliations as needed.

  • Participate in testing periodic upgrades to Workday and ensure all test scripts are executed properly and any testing errors are resolved.

  • Ensure continuous professional growth and development through internal and external workshops and seminars.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Significant European and specifically Italian payroll experience & other outsourced payroll administration and legislative experience utilizing a top-tier human capital management system.

  • Experience with payroll interrelationships with accounting and General Ledger (GL).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications with an emphasis in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, including advanced features.

  • Superb attention to detail and ability to review large amounts of data efficiently.

  • Exceptional customer service skills, communication skills, and high level of professionalism and courtesy in highly charged situations.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Fluent in English

  • Possess the highest level of integrity, diplomacy, and confidentiality. Able to work independently, execute responsibilities, and meet all deadlines with planning, organization, and accuracy in a high volume, deadline-oriented environment.

  • Strong mathematical skills with ability to research, analyze, reconcile, and resolve complex time and payroll issues.

  • Work a flexible schedule and overtime when necessary.

What Makes You Unique

  • Working knowledge of Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft HCM systems.

  • Professional payroll certification as appropriate in Europe

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain routine business processes while participating in projects that improve the workflows and processes within the organization.

  • Preferred experience includes an educational background in HR, Finance, or Accounting.
