IBM Client Engineering Innovation Designer in Milano, Italy

Introduction

Innovation Designers in the IBM Client Engineering Team take a human-centered

perspective in value engineering. They understand the human needs behind a

client's challenge through lean user research and participative activities

(Enterprise Design Thinking) in client conversations. Designers can uncover

additional client needs to be addressed with IBM Technologies, leading to cross-

and up-sell opportunities. Designers are responsible for translating client needs

into desirable experiences that connect business, technology, and user goals. We

increase client satisfaction with meaningful outcomes and drive adoption by

bringing real value to real people.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Innovation Design at IBM is transforming how we engage with and understand

our clients' most complex challenges. Embracing a philosophy of 'demonstrate'

over 'declare', Client Engineering collaborates directly with prospective clients,

crafting in real-time innovative solutions to their most pressing business needs.

As an Innovation Designer within a Client Engineering squad, you'll work

alongside Technical Leaders and specialists across IBM sales teams,

spearheading these dynamic, co-creative client sessions.

As a Designer within Client Engineering, you'll be a key player in a multi-

disciplinary team made up of Architects, Data Scientists, Engineers, Developers,

and Business Strategists to deliver a unique client co-creation experience that

uses IBM technology to accelerate and prove value for our clients.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Leading clients and teams through a human-centered innovation process

to uncover needs and craft valuable solutions, emphasizing the

importance of the human element in both problems and solutions.

Facilitating collaborative innovation sessions and design sprints that bring

together diverse perspectives, accelerating alignment on impactful

solutions.

Advancing innovation design disciplines with new methods tailored to

emerging technologies like Data and AI, Ethical Design, and Sustainability

Design, among others, to accelerate value delivery.

Conducting discovery workshops to deeply understand client and user

needs, synthesizing insights to identify opportunities for applying IBM

technologies in meaningful ways.

Recognizing patterns across use cases, industries, and markets to share

and leverage innovations, fostering cross-sell opportunities through lateral

thinking.

Employing Lean UX principles to translate client needs into compelling

solutions, utilizing rapid prototyping and storytelling to connect people

with IBM Technology and inspire adoption among all stakeholder

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a

history of effectively engaging with clients and teams to co-create and

implement innovative solutions, influencing decisions at all levels.

(Including impactful projects and initiatives).

-Extensive experience in design thinking and user experience design

applied to solving enterprise-scale challenges, with a focus on creating

user-centered solutions.

-Deep knowledge of integrating technology and design to address business

needs, including proficiency in prototyping, user research, and applying

innovative methodologies to drive adoption in enterprise contexts.

-Demonstrated ability to apply agile and lean methodologies in the design

and development process, ensuring solutions are delivered efficiently and

effectively, meeting client expectations and timelines

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Business Integration: Experience in connecting user and service design

with the broader business context, including business framing, to create

holistic solutions for clients.

Agile and LEAN Methodologies: Proficiency in Agile and LEAN

methodologies, including experience working in collaborative

environments. Capable of understanding stakeholder requirements and

ensuring that designs align with user needs.

Technical Fluency: Comfort and technical fluency with Hybrid Cloud and

Data & AI concepts, enabling you to design solutions that leverage these

technologies effectively
