This is an Internal Agency advertisement only for ESS employees to determine eligibility for all public assistance programs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be a current ESS employee in a position of ESS I or above.

  • Have at least 18 months of experience in determining eligibility for public assistance programs (ESS Programs) including Temporary Cash Assistance, Food Assistance, Medicaid and Refugee Assistance (This includes processing applications or reviews from receipt to disposition.)

    Experience in a generic Eligibility Processing Unit preferred.

    DESCRIPTION

    This is a professional position primarily responsible for providing back-up to the unit supervisor on a day-to-day basis. It includes but is not limited to reviewing cases during the various processes in the service delivery model, performing case reviews and providing feedback to strengthen accuracy rates and providing training or mentoring staff.

  • Assists supervisor in performance mentoring and technical assistance and provides in-unit training for development or for those employees where problems have been identified.

  • Perform case reviews as assigned. Performs operational monitoring, tracking or casework and completes reports as assigned.

  • Assists supervisor in handling client complaints and acts as a supervisory back-up in the supervisor's absence.

  • In this capacity, they may be required to process special error-prone/complex cases.

  • Accurately inputs data into all systems and evaluates outcome of the system to ensure that eligible individuals receive their benefits.

  • Reviews and analyzes data from Quality Control and all monitoring sources and provides training sessions in areas where errors were identified.

  • Reviews the cases of clients who request a fair hearing to ensure that the case was processed correctly and holds a conference with the client at the request of the supervisor.

  • Participates in committees, work groups and community activities as directed by the supervisor.
