Reports To: Box Office Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly

Position Summary

The Box Office Coordinator under the direction of the Director of Ticketing or Assistant Box Office Manager occasionally serves as a shift leader. This entails supervising other ticket sellers and possibly the cash management of a given shift. Controls the cash flow of the box office as needed including cash distribution, collection and deposits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all ticket sellers and provide necessary training and information to ensure that staff remains informed in regard to policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate with the Director of Ticketing and/or Assistant Box Office Manager to ensure that the day and shift’s special needs and requirements are met.

  • Assist with the monitoring and reconciliation of temporary ticket sellers.

  • Process ticket sales at the box office as needed.

  • Answer questions concerning event schedules, event prices, and ticket policies.

  • Balance all applicable transactions for the date of service and complete all necessary reports before departure.

  • Verify all receipts from daily sales and return to secure area for deposit.

  • Record and investigate all overages and shortages, and promptly report to Director of Ticketing.

  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

  • Follow all designated opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secure and energy efficient.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in customer relations, communications and problem solving.

  • Calculate mathematical computations and handle financial transactions rapidly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.

  • Operate computerized ticketing system and a personal computer using Windows and Microsoft Office software.

  • Operate standard office equipment including copier and fax machine.

  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.

  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.

  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High School or GED Certificate graduate.

  • Minimum of one (1) year work related experience and/or training.

  • Ticketmaster experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills required

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and financial procedures, including record keeping and reconciliation

  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices

  • Ability to coordinate and schedule staff

  • Excellent good customer service and public relations skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ticket selling/box office operations

  • Ability to count money, make change accurately

  • Experience with spreadsheets and computerized ticket systems desirable.
