The Role: Prepress Supervisor

Position Summary

This role participates in daily department production job sequencing and assists in developing and facilitating client workflows and solutions.This role is responsible for the setup of files including enlargements, composing, and processing of files prior to sending to various printers and/or cutters. The Prepress Manager must demonstrate proficiency with applicable software, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite. Additionally, this role is responsible for helping produce products according to the job's work order. Therefore a high level of detail in reading and understanding job specifications is necessary. The Prepress Manager ultimately ensures prints and final products are completed on time and within exacting qualitystandards. Worksclosely withNational Prepress. Production, ClientServices, andPressroommanagement to assure client demands are treated in accurate, timely and expedient manner.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate team using positive attitude that inspires team to exceed production requirements

  • Contribute to the department productivity by actively maintaining role as desktop assembly technician

  • Expedite assembly, proof and plate schedules set forth by Production Management Team

  • Schedule department team to meet production demands

  • Communicate production concerns and requirements to Production Team

  • Maintain National department standards and practices

  • Collaborate with National Prepress Team on automation and workflow development and implementation

  • Maintain department material inventories and maintenance needs; take required actions when necessary

  • Develop and train cohesive and productive department team

  • Additional responsibilities and duties to be determined

Qualifications

Education, Skills, Experience & Abilities:

  • Associate degree or similar work experience in Printing Technologies

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in commercial print facility, emphasis on digital print tech

  • Advanced understanding of Prepress operations and software applications

  • Advanced experience in Desktop Publishing application suites and RIP technologies; Esko Automation Engine, Artios CAD, ArtProPlus a plus

  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Understanding of Color Management theories; experience with ICC Profiles, device-link profiles, spectrophotometers, and calibration software. G7 Process experience a plus

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and stress

  • Solid sense of confidentiality and discretion
