JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary/Overview The Senior Technician Engineering Lab effectively coordinates the development engineering lab facilities, including 5S+Safety and instrument calibration. You will also test and evaluate new product prototypes, and design and build automated development test fixtures to facilitate product evaluations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate and operate the Development Engineering test lab facility, including capital improvement planning and maintaining inventory of consumables. Establish and direct the 5S + Safety program, including periodic audits and corrective actions. Plan and conduct the calibration program for all lab instruments, keeping all instruments current, and coordinating calibration timing with active development work to minimize disruptions. Assemble and test new product breadboards and prototypes during the development process. Conduct verification and validation tests with the design engineers on prototypes and pre-production samples (including power conversion designs), including functional tests, stress tests, and accelerated life tests. Provide required support to UL/CSA/CE qualification testing. Including limited travel to external test locations in the field to provide support for set-up and initial testing of prototype sample equipment. Write reports to document tests performed, including charts, graphs and schematics to illustrate the product\'s operating characteristics and deviations from design specifications. Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations; ensure the maintenance of department housekeeping standards. Provide other required support to the new product development engineering team. Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs. Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry. Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities Demonstrated experience and ability to read electrical schematics and test electronics circuits. Experience with electronics lab equipment, including, but not limited to meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, and spectrum analyzers preferred. Proficiency in soldering, including fine-pitch, surface-mount circuit components preferred. Independent and willing to take responsibility and ownership of projects and facilities. Team player: effectively build and maintain working relationships; demonstrate ability and willingness to cooperate and collaborate with others to achieve positive results.
