As a vital member of our Chicago team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on transportation projects that focus on bridges and other transportation structure designs.

As a Complex Bridge Engineer and a vital member of our Minnesota team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on complex bridge and transportation structure design projects. Bridge types can include segmental post-tensioned, steel-box girders, cable-stayed, arches and trusses. As part of this role you will be involved with our National Complex bridge practice working on projects across the US and overseas that may include design-bid-build and design-build. Work on projects can be performed remotely and under a flexible work-schedule. As part of this role, mentoring will be provided to develop the candidate’s technical skills in all areas of bridge design and also provide the candidate with the opportunity to work on bridge projects that can expand on technical knowledge. You’ll coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors, perform quality reviews, prepare budgets and schedules for bridge design tasks. You’ll also help train, direct and mentor junior engineers and CAD staff. You will have the opportunity to grow our portfolio of projects with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and other local clients.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • MSCE

  • Minnesota PE registration

  • A minimum of 10 years bridge design experience with a background in steel girder design, prestressed concrete design, and earth retaining structure design.

  • Complex bridge experience

  • Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD design code. Proficiency in Midas, Leap Bridge Concrete, and similar analysis and design software

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and to direct the work of others

  • Project management or task management experience

  • Excellent focus on client service

  • Experience supporting proposal development

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Design-Build project experience

  • Complex Bridge experience

  • Project management experience

  • Business development experience

  • Experience leading proposal development

  • Mentorship experience
