MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Epidemiology in MDA-On-Site, United States

This position will focus on studying how diet and other potentially modifiable host factors impact the gut microbiome, the immune response, and clinical outcomes in melanoma and other cancers. The post-doctoral candidate will design and analyze established patient cohorts, human intervention, and parallel preclinical studies. Candidates must have a strong background in epidemiology, biostatistics, and biology to work with a multidisciplinary clinical research team. This position is under the direct supervision of Dr. Carrie Daniel-MacDougall, Ph.D., M.P.H., Associate Professor, Epidemiology, and Dr. Jennifer McQuade, M.D., M.S., M.A., Lac, Associate Professor, Melanoma Medical Oncology. The trainee will be housed in the Department of Epidemiology, a supportive and collaborative academic environment for epidemiological research with the purpose of acquiring new knowledge related to endpoints across the cancer continuum - from risk through survivorship.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Develop and advance skills in nutritional epidemiology using data collected longitudinally from a variety of dietary assessment sources, full feeding studies, and dietary intervention trials. Develop and advance skills in clinical and molecular epidemiology, integrating clinical data with patient-reported data and biological markers in the setting of patient cohorts, and clinical and preclinical studies. With the support of a faculty mentor, independently develop new lines of research for investigation in established data, and ongoing or planned studies.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Ph.D., MD, or equivalent degree in epidemiology with significant experience and/or degree in biology and biostatistics. A clear interest in nutrition and cancer with a proven track record of publications and proficiency in writing manuscripts is required.

POSITION INFORMATION

MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
