Information Security Sr Advisor - Encryption

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). An ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations listed here: Atlanta, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Norfolk, VA; Richmond, VA; Mason, OH; Dallas, TX; Washington, DC; Hanover, MD; Winston-Salem, NC or Miami, FL.

The Information Security Sr Advisor - Encryption is responsible for the selection and delivery of strategic network security, access control and secure transaction/messaging solutions. Develops, recommends, and implements enterprise information security policies, technical standards, guidelines, procedures, and other elements of an infrastructure necessary to support information security in compliance with established company policies, regulatory requirements, and generally accepted information security controls. This role is key to maintaining the security and integrity of our network. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of network security and certificate management, as well as experience in automating complex processes.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Oversee and manage the entire lifecycle of digital certificates, from provisioning to expiration.

  • Develop and implement automation strategies to streamline the certificate lifecycle process.

  • Co-ordinate and manage any incidents that arise, working to provide swift and effective resolution.

  • Patch management and version control of platform certificate management applications.

  • Conduct regular audits of certificate usage, maintaining documentation as required.

  • Set and enforce policy regarding certificate usage across the enterprise.

  • Liaise and build strong relationships with vendors and stakeholders.

  • Regularly communicate complex technical issues in a clear way to non-technical staff members.

  • Leads encryption and network architecture support for information and network security technologies.

  • Leads development and execution of risk assessment methodologies to fit business, regulatory, and technical environment considerations

  • Leads the development of requirements, system architecture, and software design of security products and services

  • Leads the development of strategies for discovery, evaluation and response to new networking attacks; develops security incident response plans and strategies.

  • Creates presentations and seeks IT management approval and acceptance of significant replacements or reconfigurations of major security systems serving the Enterprise.

  • Designs & engineers comprehensive access management and network security technical solutions based on business requirements and defined technology standards; works with architecture to update technology direction & strategy.

  • Develops reports supporting strategy and direction for management.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert among peers, with manager and senior management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires BS/BA in information Technology or related field of study and a minimum of 8 years experience in systems administration and security aspects of information systems, access management and network security technologies, network communications, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management, hardware, software, data, and people

  • Requires broad-based experience to plan and design highly complex systems; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Solid understanding of PKI, SSL/TLS, certificate management and related security principles.

  • Proven background in automation, with desirable scripting experience.

  • Previous experience with certificate management applications.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in various operating systems and platforms.

  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from changing requirements.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with vendors, stakeholders and team members.

  • Venafi or other Certificate Management tool

  • Experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSM)

  • Firewall experience

  • Packet Capture troubleshooting experience

  • Scripting experience a plus

  • Network Packet Broker experience a plus

  • Experience with various application, operating system, and platform level trust-store management

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team, contributing to an inclusive and supportive work environment.
