Magellan Health Services Tax Administrative Assistant in Maryland Heights, Missouri

Provides support to the tax team, including handling business correspondence; maintaining tax return due date databases, tax notice log, incoming and outgoing mail, permanent entity files including updates to organization charts; and preparing simple transaction tax returns.

  • Update tax return database with due dates, extensions, estimated tax payments, date filed or mailed, actual per return amounts paid and overpayment carryforwards. Roll database forward to new tax year.

  • Keep up with tax notices received and ensure responses are timely.

  • Responsible for mailing tax returns and correspondence to states, including mailing certified return receipt and maintaining documentation of mailings.

  • Maintain the subsidiary listing of entities database including officers, registered states, dissolutions, divestures, and acquisitions and update the permanent files electronically.

  • Prepare transaction taxes such as sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and other non-income tax returns. Electronically file and make the payments of these returns online.

  • Assist in the preparation of Annual Statements due to Secretary of State.

  • Assist in gathering documentation for state and local audits.

  • Assist with the tax department budget and keeping up with invoices and payments. To include requesting certain tax software through the Company’s purchasing system.

  • State research performed as needed.

  • Any other assignments as requested by leadership.

Responsibilities

Associate degree required or equivalent related administrative or tax work experience.

Experience in handling administrative tasks.

MS Office knowledge: Word and Excel specifically.

Fluent in spoken and written English.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Problem solving skills with the ability to adopt a logical approach.

Effective time management and organizational skills.

Team player.

Salary Maximum:

$68,485

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
