Routine Maintenance Scheduler

Job Summary

The Marathon Martinez Renewable Fuels Facility located in Martinez, CA, is seeking an experienced Routine Maintenance Scheduler. Duties include developing and managing a schedule for Routine Maintenance activities at the site.  This position will manage resources and priorities to produce a 7-day frozen executable schedule, a 14-day soft schedule and a 12 week look-ahead schedule. This position would also ensure that all Routine Maintenance schedules are created and managed for all stakeholders. The hours of the position are a 9/80 schedule, 6:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Support on-call 4-6 weeks per year and support and respond to off-hour situations. Periodically support overtime work, weekends, and turnarounds/outages as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review preventive and corrective work orders to make sure planned steps are logically tied with relationships and have the required craft and man-hours to perform the work.

  • Assume the lead role over the Routine Maintenance schedules to ensure accurate timing down to the day work is to be performed.

  • Review and validate all materials are on-site before work is scheduled to be executed.

  • Maintain accurate workforce headcounts within SAP work centers and Shift Updater.

  • Attend meetings with key stakeholders on the timing of when work will be performed.

  • Manage manpower leveling for all work centers.

  • Enter progress updates for all phases of maintenance/construction.

  • Interface with Project Controls for monthly forecasting of headcount and man-hours.

  • Produce and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.

  • Review KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and work with stakeholders on areas of improvement (schedule adherence, productivity, resource utilization, schedule breakers, etc.).

  • Interface with numerous MPC/contract planners to assure their plans are per MPC standards.

    Education, Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)

  • ​Must have at least 5 years maintenance experience in a refinery, petro-chemical or other heavy related industry.

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in planning and scheduling Routine Maintenance, projects, or turnarounds.

  • Must be p roficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Must be proficient in SAP planning and scheduling.

  • Must have strong organizing, planning, critical thinking, and communication skills. With the ability to manage competing priorities in dynamic refining environment.

  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.

  • Must have valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)

  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.

  • Travel Requirement is 5% or less.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Prometheus Scheduler is preferred.

  • PDF creation and mark-up knowledge is preferred.

  • Advanced Excel/Access experience is preferred.
