Emerson Sales & Applications Engineer in Marshalltown, Iowa

We have an exciting Sales Engineer role available based out of our global headquarters for Fisher control valves in Marshalltown, Iowa!

As the world’s leading provider of process control equipment, we design, manufacture, install and service Fisher control valves and instrumentation across multiple industries including chemical, oil & gas, refining, power, pulp & paper, metals & mining, hydrogen, sustainable, and many other facilities around the world.

What Is Sales Engineering at Emerson:

Sales engineers join our fast-paced Global Industry Sales team in Marshalltown, Iowa, and act as the primary source of factory expertise for our global sales channel. You are responsible for driving both commercial and technical reviews, maintaining strong application knowledge, pricing discussions, contract reviews, project strategy, customer presentations among other tasks. This is accomplished through strong engagement, communication, responsiveness, technical expertise, and price management.

AS A SALES ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Provide application and technical support to our global sales teams through

  • Valve sizing and selection

  • Field issue resolution

  • Product presentations

  • Industry knowledge

  • Value-led selling

  • Act as the liaison between the sales network and our strategic product business units

  • Be the voice of the customer into our organization and engineering teams.

  • Lead pricing discussions with the global sales network

  • Set pricing in conjunction with divisional objectives for sales and operating profit – gain Industry Manager, Industry Director, and Sales VP approval.

  • Visit customers to promote new technology, support our sales channel or gain industry and application knowledge

  • Coordinate visits to Marshalltown including technical training and industry schools

  • Collaborate with sales engineers, product engineers and marketing managers

  • Review commercial terms and conditions for contracts and align on acceptable business risks – gain alignment from Industry Manager and Industry Director.

  • Expedite and advance key customer complaints in focused industry segment and problems as is required to acquire satisfactory and timely resolution.

  • Understand the complete Fisher portfolio for solutions and technologies, including new products, critical service valves, and FIELDVUE instrumentation.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • BS in Engineering, or qualified technical 4-year degree and combined experience

  • Experience working on teams

  • Strong communication skills

  • Business insight

  • Open to travel

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of control valves and/or process control

  • Strong presentation skills
