Lockheed Martin Controlled Material Crib Attendant - Paint Mixer in Marietta, Georgia

Description: Operates controlled materials storage area that would include receipt, storage and issuance of hazardous materials; tracking of paints, sealants and other controlled materials from receipt through disposal, mixing, packaging, kitting, collecting hazardous waste and other related crib operations.

Maintains adequate stock, levels of various types of aircraft sealants, paints, plastics, cements, adhesives and related productive and nonproductive items and equipment based on past and present usage requirements. Takes periodic inventories of materials and submits for laboratory retest those items with specification-designated storage limitations. Updates with Storage Limitation Stamp items which have been recertified. Removes or quarantines items which have exceeded storage limitations or failed to pass laboratory recertification tests. Prepares and maintains lists of required items showing applicable specification numbers, material codes, certification status, usage data and inventory information.

Compounds sealants and related materials by weighing and mixing base components, catalysts, additives or retarders in accordance with military, company, manufacturer's or other exact specifications and instructions. Stores mixed compounds under controlled temperature conditions to maintain specified work life. Makes periodic checks of temperatures in storage freezers and refrigerators and maintains records of storage conditions. Performs visual inspections of compounds to check work life span and cure time. Assist production employees when material problems are indicated and advise management accordingly.

Mixes to formula: materials such as aircraft paint primers and thinners used for general touch-up purposes; primers and finish paints used for specialized touch-up purposes on interior or exterior surfaces; plastic resins used in repairing aircraft components; acrylic cements used for cementing acrylic-parts together; other cements for cementing rubber to rubber, metal to metal, rubber of fabric to metal; epoxies; polysulfide sealant compounds for fuel tank and environmental sealing of aircraft structures.

Issues such compounded and formulated items as indicated above to employees on request as well as ready-mixed items such as color conversion coatings (Alodine) for aircraft skin repair, leak detector solutions, toluene, MEK, naphtha, l, l, l trichloroethane, acetone, methylene chloride safety solvent, alcohol and other special thinners and solvents used for cleaning purposes. Certify each issue with Inspection Stamp and maintain issue records for quality control traceability purposes.

Issues related items and equipment such as tack-free accelerator, sealant and paint strippers, primer in pressurized cans, sealing nozzles, paper cups, cans, paint and acid brushes, cleaning rags, spatulas, tongue depressors, polishes, protective hand lotions and similar items.

Performs bulk mixing of high-usage items. Perform periodic checks of sealant mix ratio by weighing samples of base and catalyst, calculate weight ratios using established formula and adjust machines to proper ratios as required. Replace drums of bulk sealants in machines as needed. Perform quick-freezing of limited work life compounds in liquid nitrogen bath. Thaw frozen material in microwave ovens in accordance with established instructions.

Label all issued containers with applicable identification and expiration information. Label containers of repackaged materials with hazardous material warning as appropriate. Conduct periodic checks of storage areas to ensure that materials have current storage limitation dates; quarantine those items with expired dates and disposition according to specification requirements.

Utilizes computer to maintain records necessary to crib operations and to enter/retrieve information necessary for material control. Prepares and applies bar code labels.

Basic Qualifications:

* Must have one year previous experience as a painter or equivalent paint mixing.

* Must be able to lift 80 pounds

* Must be able to obtain DOD Security Clearance

A candidate is required to have one of the following minimum levels of experience and/or training:

1. One year experience in any combination of the following:

Aircraft painting

OR Mixing or processing sealants, chemicals, or paint.

AND

2. Must be able to obtain certifications for specific processes as needed.

NOTE: Employee must have knowledge of sealants, paints, and the ability to compute mix ratios to various requested volumes, knowledge of plastics and metal bond materials, the ability to maintain an inventory that will allow the issuance of sealants to production in an expeditious manner.

MEDICAL LIMITATIONS:

1. Those with allergic reactions to sealants, paints, plastics cleaning fluids and solvents, etc., may be barred.

2. Lifting of various weights is required. Drums (55 gals., 400 lbs. minimum) of solvents and sealants have to be positioned in various locations. Prepregnated cloth, weighing a minimum of 80 lbs., has to be off-loaded upon receipt and put in freezers and issued to production upon request. Any lifting limitations would disqualify an applicant.

Desired Skills:

Aircraft paint mixing experience.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
