POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Director, the Program Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation, continued development and implementation of the basketball programming programs in the Youth Sports department. The position is responsible for, communicating with parents, establishing procedures, and ensuring the program reflects the YMCA’s commitment to child safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs and supervises the seasonal basketball program activities throughout the season.

  • Parent tours and orientations as required.

  • Responding to parent concerns, monitoring and ensuring a positive environment.

  • Develops and implements Youth sports programming.

  • Ensures a high level of member and participant satisfaction

in programs by building strong relationships with program participants.

  • Directly carries out leadership responsibilities to effectively oversee, guide and evaluate Youth Sports contract workers and/or volunteers in accordance with the Association’s policies, purpose and goals.

  • Is responsible for assuring the outlined procedures before, during and after an activity or game are fully completed by self and staff.

  • Properly prepares activity/playing areas to ensure safety for all participants.

  • Is visible and available to staff, coaches, and participants to answer questions.

  • Responds seriously and confidentially to suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and follows mandated reporting requirements related to abuse.

  • Listens to concerns, resolves problems and corrects inappropriate behavior.

  • Completes necessary paperwork accurately and timely.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • General knowledge of the basketball rules as well as rules specific to YMCA Youth Sports.

  • Possesses a strong understanding of the YMCA and its purpose, mission and values. Demonstrates this understanding through behavior and actions that support the purpose, mission and values.

  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication (written and verbal) skills.

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Must have flexible work schedule.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
