Director of Geriatrics -Woodhull
NYU Grossman School of Medicine, an affiliate of Woodhull Medical Center, is seeking a Director of Geriatrics. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to advance geriatric care at a historic public hospital in the heart of Brooklyn. This is a new role that will bridge care across the outpatient and inpatient settings. Candidates will have the opportunity to create an inpatient consult service and spearhead approaches to coordination across the landscape of care. As such, candidates will exercise a broad skillset in primary care, acute care and consultation, clinic management and operations, and health system level strategy.
Clinically, the Director will carry a primary care panel in Woodhull's geriatrics practice, which exists in a facility-based ambulatory care ecosystem that prioritizes a patient-first approach, harm reductive lens, robust care coordination, and community-based interventions to address social determinants of health. The Director will also be tasked with the creation of a geriatric inpatient consultation service and serve as a liaison with post-acute and nursing home settings. The Director will serve as the lead for residents who choose geriatrics as their elective rotation.
Candidates should have training in geriatric medicine, demonstrate a keen understanding of the healthcare landscape, and show an interest in operations and management. Because our care reflects the community we serve, we expect that candidates demonstrate clinical expertise in key areas such as social determinants of health, diabetes, Alzheimer dementia, basic cardiac care, rehabilitation medicine, addiction medicine, and behavioral health.
