Universal Health Services RECEPTIONIST in MADERA, California

Responsibilities

River Vista Behavioral Health sits along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River, this brand new, 128-bed facility, will provide high-quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and hardworking RECEPTIONIST The Receptionist is responsible for greeting and assisting all visitors, answering the switchboard, documenting incoming deliveries, processing incoming and outgoing mail and providing clerical support as requested. In addition, the Receptionist prepares weekday deposits, prepares monthly statements for mailing, assists with various clerical duties and projects as assigned, and may assist with completing appropriate paperwork for new admissions during after-hours shifts if assigned as well as maintain the Receptionist schedule and serve as back up as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education : High school graduate or equivalent required.

Experience: Two (2) years’ experience on a multi-line telephone switchboard, preferably in a heath care environment and any combination of education, training, or experience in a hospital environment.

Additional Requirements: May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow the facility guest relations program when greeting and assisting all visitors, ensuring all visitors sign the visitor log and obtain a visitor pass.

  • Answer and disseminate all incoming calls on the switchboard in a professional and courteous manner within three rings.

  • Utilize the paging system to announce callers as required.

  • If assigned, provide clerical support to admissions

  • Collate admission folder as required.

  • Keypunch revised patient data as required.

  • Ensure an adequate supply of pre-stuffed admission folders and distribute properly

  • Assist with misc. patient account folders on a daily basis

  • Process all outgoing and incoming mail

  • If assigned, provide assistant to patients and employees, such as change, checking valuables, providing meal tickets and providing postage as assigned.

  • Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.

  • Attend all mandatory facility inservices and staff development activities as scheduled.

  • Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality

  • Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient in

  • Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives

  • Input authorization letters in patient files.

  • Reconcile monthly Petty Cash for Business Office Director.

  • Coordinate outside meetings with room assignments.

    PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to work a 40 hour week.

  • Ability to sit for long periods, up to 8 hours.

  • Ability to use both hands in fine manipulation of small tools (copier, computer, telephone, typewriter, calculator, safe, facsimile machine).

  • Ability to push and pull up to 10 lbs. (file cabinet drawers, computer paper boxes).

  • Ability to see well enough to read handwritten and typewritten material.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds to move transfer file boxes, data processing paper, newly admitted patient’s belongings, as required.

  • Ability to frequently reach, turn and twist above and below the waist daily to retrieve files from top shelves to get office supplies from upper shelves in supply closet.

  • Ability to hear and speak well enough to answer and communicate on the facility switchboard.

  • Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.

    Additional Requirements :

    A strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, HCFA, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards and all other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
